Isn’t it great when celebs get styled to perfection? And then go and tell everyone who and how they did it so we can copy it? Thanks, Anne Hathaway, for styling and telling about not only your beautiful Golden Globes hair, but also your SAG hair! Who would have thought getting all your hair cut off while the cameras were rolling would be such a hit? Or, that short hair could actually be styled in a few different ways? In this edition of “Love Her Look,” we’re looking at the former Princess of Genovia turned Cowgirl turned Catwoman, turned French Prostitute– and all the lovely looks she has had in that time!
When Anne Hathaway hit the Disney scene in 2001′s “The Princess Diaries,” she had frizzy hair and braces. But by the end of the movie, she was transformed into a smooth haired, makeup wearing princess! Imagine that, in 2006 she AGAIN played a dowdy, fashionless girl who is made over into a fashion plate by the end… type casting, anyone? Anne Hathaway is known for her classic good looks, and ability to be fearless on the red carpet. Her go to look for awards shows is a healthy dose of black eye liner, fake eyelashes, and the perfect shade of red lipstick. Seriously, this girl probably has a case of it in her garage somewhere.
To copy her look, and be as fresh as a daisy, start with Smashbox’s Photo Finish Illuminizing primer to get a dewy look that will brighten up any complexion, and make your makeup go on ore flawlessly and stay longer! For your foundation, choose a formula that offers good coverage, but isn’t so thick that you look like you’re wearing a mask. This blogger loves Illuminare’s Dewy Finish foundation because it covers where it needs to, but leaves your skin feeling like you’re wearing nothing at all! ($27.00 at all Planet Beauty stores) To add a little light flush to your face, reach for Jane Iredale’s So Bronze 2, and contour your cheeks from your hair line above your ears, down to the apples of your cheeks. Check out this blog on how to get the perfect contoured look! Add a little bronzer to the bridge of your nose, forehead, and chin for an even look. Then, dust a little Copper Wind, also by Jane Iredale, on just the apples of your cheeks.
Because Anne doesn’t wear a lot of eye makeup (unless she’s playing Selina Kyle/Catwoman) you’re probably just going to need a good set of false eyelashes and some glue. First, an insider make up trick for applying lashes: line your eyes with black eyeliner FIRST, that way you can just go back in and fill in where necessary and not ruin the point on your pencil! To finish the look, reach for your favorite shade of red lipstick, and after applying (the best primer EVER) Too Faced’s Lip Insurance, swipe on the color to add a pop to your pucker.
Now that Anne cut off all her luscious brown hair to play Fantine, she has limited options for styling. At the Golden Globes and SAG Awards, she was styled by Frederic Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel, who simply sprayed the Bouffant spray from the Coiff line, and blow dried for volume. Then, to add piecy texture to the ends, he applied Piecing and Forming wax before finishing with Sheer Hold Hairspray. As her hair grows out, she can continue to use these products to create lift, separation, and definition.
