Howdy there, ya’ll! Welcome back to Planet Beauty’s Blog, where you find all your tips, tricks, and inspiration for the lovlier things in life! This week, in another edition of “Love Her Look,” we’re talking about one of the hottest new shows on TV (and a personal can’t-miss for this blogger): Nashville. Have you seen it? Talk about making country music sexy and sassy! All three of the leading ladies in Nashville (Oh, yes, we’re including song bird Scarlette!) have a unique style, and this blog is going to tell you how to create it yourself! Our eyes are like a telescope when it comes to beauty in Nashville!
First up (because how could we put Juliet Barnes in front of her?) is reigning Queen of Country Rayna James, as played by Connie Britton. In Nashville, you seldomly see a lady without big, curly hair, and Rayna James is no exception! If your hair is long, it can be hard to get all your hair curly, so use a clipless curling iron and wrap all your hair around it in a spiral. This ensures your hair gets wavy from top to bottom. Do this in one inch sections until all of your hair is curled. Tip from a pro: this blogger has a TON of long hair, and finds it easiest to pin half of her hair up and curl the bottom, then bring the top down and divide in half; you’ll never miss a piece of hair again! Finish with a light hold finishing spray, like Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable.
Both of the young Nashville stars portray different ends of the musical spectrum: Juliet has made it and is a sexy songstress, while Scarlette is sweet and unsure as a song writer for a major Nashville record label. Both add to their characters credibility with their makeup– Juliet with bronze smoky eyes, and Scarlette with a very natural look. If you’re vibing with Scarlette and want to be a natural beauty, lightly line your eyes with a charcoal eyeliner (this blogger is LOVING Jane Iredale liners), and apply two coats of mascara (try Peter Thomas Roth’s Lashes to Die For which condtions lashes AND has a unique brush to lengthen and volumize!). Add just enough blush to give your cheeks a rosy glow, and finish with a shiny, barely pink lip gloss.
If you’re feeling vixen-ish like Juliet Barnes, get ready to create a sultry smokey eye. Juliet never wears harsh black shadows, but creates a smoldering eye with brown and bronze colored shadows. This blogger loves Smashbox’s Photo Op eye shadow trios in Screen Shot for this look. Apply the lighter color to the brow bone and inner eye, the lighter color all over the lid, and then the darkest color to the crease and outer edge of the lid. Line both top and bottom lashes, and apply two coats of mascara. As any beauty knows, with a dark eye, there’s no need for a ton of lip color, so play it more natural with a barely there pink gloss.
You can be a Nashville star — or at least look like one– with everything you need at your local Planet Beauty store!
