Welcome back, beauties, to another installment of The Nail Files! This time around, we’re focusing on how to make your nails fun and festive with the greatest thing known to man: GLITTER! Nothing makes makeup, nails, or an outfit more girly than throwing a little sparkle into the mix, and your mani is no exception! Read on for tips and tricks on how to score the most glittery nails of them all, and a few different styles to mix it up!
First off, every beauty knows the keys to a good mani are having well groomed nails and cuticles. Be sure to file your nails in one direction, and never EVER cut your cuticles– simply soak them in warm water or use a cuticle remover and gently push back the cuticles. Optimal cuticle health includes putting cuticle oil on every day to stimulate your nails to grow, and not picking at hang nails! Once your nails are filed and oiled up, apply a strengthening base coat, like Deborah Lippmann’s Rehydrating Base Coat to keep your nails in optimal health.
Now, on to the fun part! There have been a whole slew on nail trends this year, from glittery color blocked nails to metallics, to foiled nails, to magnetic nails! It’s super easy to fun up your mani with a little glitter polish, simply apply a few coats (depending on how much glitter you want!) to one or all of your nails, and then set with a top coat. Hint: adding some chunky glitter polish can make yuour mani go an extra few days if it starts to chip, since the glitter covers any breaks in the polish!
Having a perfect mani with fun polishes can sometimes be a bit difficult. That’s why beauties everywhere rejoiced with the onset of nail stickers! These real lacquer polish stickers were easy as pie to press on, then rip away and file to fit your nail shape. They stay on just like real polish, and is easily removed with any nail polish remover. Finally, an easier way to get the amazing nail art you crave with out the hassle of messing up!
And finally, how cool are those magnetic nail colors out there? here’s a few brands out there, like Deborah Lippmann and OPI that created magnetic nail polishes that you simply paint on, and while it’s still wet, you slide your finger under a magnet for a few seconds, and when it re-emerges, you have a fun design right in your polish– no skills required! Once set, finish with your favorite top coat and show that mani off!

To sparkle up your life, use your favorite glitter nail polishes, and paint those onto the makeup sponge in stripes before applying to your nail. Or, use complimenting polish colors, like bronze or gold with a gold or copper glitter over it to make a fun and shimmery ombre nail!
