We’ll admit we’re totally jealous of all the benefits that come with super stardom: fancy clothes, fancy houses, and fancy cars. All of these are great, but as beauty junkies it’s safe to say that what we really want is access to the top hairstylists and colorists in the country at all times. We don’t want to follow the trends, we want to start them! Until then, however, we’ll just stick to envying the hottest celeb hair looks of 2012.

Ombre! If you hadn’t noticed, ombre hair color was one of the biggest hair trends of 2012. Unlike 2011, ombre in 2012 became all about color! Seeing pink, purple, or multi-colored tips wasn’t so shocking, and it was a fun take on the basic ombre trend. If you’re handy with hair dye, try using Satin Haircolor to achieve the ombre look. To get a flawless, natural fade, lighten your tips starting at or below ear level. If you want to get crazy with it, try color! Manic Panic has semi permanent hair colors that range from green to pink. Try a few if you’re bold, or if your office dress code allows it.
Not into the whole multi-colored thing? Platinum blonde and bright red were hugely popular with celebrities this year! Sure it takes some guts-and peroxide!-but you’ll be turning heads everywhere you go. The most memorable platinum moment of the past year belongs to Miley Cyrus’s bold new blonde crop. Follow her lead and take a risk! If platinum is too big a step, try red. Twilight star Ashley Greene looked stunning when she went from rich brown to red. Use Satin hair color to help you make the change. Just pick your color and go for it!

The side swept (AKA Mermaid Hair) look is THE effortless glam look of 2012. Try the side swept look with loose waves to make your look more boho than prim (see Stacy Keibler, above). To achieve, curl your hair with the Enzo Milano 25 mm (1”) Clipless Curling Iron. Unlike other irons, the Enzo won’t leave any curling iron creases in the hair or give you tight ringlets. After curling, brush hair to one side and pin at the nape of the neck. Bobby pins will give the style staying power. Once you’ve got it just right, spritz all over with hairspray. We like Enjoy Super Hold Hair Spray, which will give your hair control, volume, and shine!

The Top Knot was seen on most celebs this year, and is the best way to look chic while putting in minimal effort. To achieve: Place hair in a pony tail high up on the crown of your head. Smooth in some gel while you are gathering your hair in a ponytail. Use Colure Firm Hold Styling Gel to smooth down flyaways and help your hair to stay in place. Bonus: all of Colure’s products are color safe and will help color last longer! Wrap hair around the base of your ponytail and secure, then spray with hairspray, or tame flyaways with the Colure Firm Hold Gel. If you have enough hair, braid your ponytail hair and then wrap into a braid, like Nicole Richie did (above).
Try blunt bangs! Bangs were hot in Hollywood this year, with a certain Kardashian even getting in on the fun the past few weeks. It may require a major chop, but the result is worth it! Bangs are a great and easy way to quickly update your look. To style them, try Colure’s Straight Hair Blow Dry Crème. Smooth some onto damp hair and blow dry with a paddle brush. This will ensure that your bangs will be smooth and sleek. Style the rest of your hair as you please!
