When getting dolled-up for the holidays, make sure to be thorough! Nails may be small, but they sure can pack a punch. Get festive, or check out a new trend. There’s always something new happening in nails.
This should come to no surprise, but we at Planet Beauty love glitter! Glitter is having a major moment right now, whether its glittery clothes, makeup, or nails! An easy way to join in on the fun is by painting glitter on your nails. Deborah Lippman has some fantastic glitter polishes that will really get you in the holiday spirit. Boom Boom Pow is a gold glitter polish that actually contains 24 karat gold dust. Fancy! If you don’t want to go all-out with the glitter, then just paint one! Paint all nails but the ones on your ring fingers a solid color, like Deborah Lippman’s “Dark Side of the Moon”. Then paint Deborah Lippman’s “Let’s Go Crazy” on your ring fingers (pictured). The pop of glitter will be really eye-catching!
On the opposite end of the nail trend spectrum is: Matte Finish Nails! If shine isn’t your thing, matte nails sure will be! Butter London has a top coat called Matte Finish Topcoat that will flatten out any nail polish. This will give your nail color a chic, understated finish. With a topcoat there’s no need to buy a ton of matte polishes; one and done! Pair it with any solid nail polish (we think deeper, darker colors look best!).
Want movie-star nails? Try colors from the OPI Skyfall Collection. Available in stores, the Skyfall Collection features 12 polishes that are all inspired by the newest James Bond movie. The colors have clever names like: Golden Eye (a gold glitter), The World is Not Enough (a dark gray glitter), and The Spy Who Loved Me (a bright red with hints of glitter). Notice a trend here? The collection has warm colors and cooler ones, most of them with sparkle or shimmer.
If you really want to get festive for the holidays, try a candy cane nail! Although not as tasty and minty fresh as the real thing, candy cane nails are fun and party-perfect! Making the candy cane design is easy: paint the whole nail one color, wait for it to dry, and then paint diagonal stripes across your nails in the other color. You can do this in solids with Butter London “Come to Bed Red” and “Pearly Queen”. You can upgrade your candy cane nails with diamonds! Fake ones, sorry! Deborah Lippman’s “Bring on the Bling” is a diamond shimmer that contains Virgin Diamond Powder. Paint a base coat with this blingin’ white and then paint your red stripes on top! Or do a base coat with Deborah Lippman’s “Amazing Grace” (pure white) and “Ruby Red Slippers” (pictured) as your peppermint stripes!
Can’t decide on just one nail trend to try? You don’t have to! Grab a bunch of polishes and just go for it! There’s no wrong way to go when it comes to nails!
