Now that the holiday season is officially in full swing, you’re going to need to make a statement at each party you attend. Since buying a new dress for every event can be a bit of a wallet workout, how about making a splash through your hair and makeup? We already know it’s super easy to change one little thing about your regular makeup look to amp it up to the next level, so read on for two sexy new looks to try for your next holiday bash. You may even find someone to meet you under the mistletoe!
The first perfect holiday look is one made infamous (?) by none other than Melissa Gorga from Real Housewives of New Jersey. You’ll recall Melissa (and Teresa—ugh) both rocked gorgeous glittery eye makeup to the reunion shows recently. This look is totally holiday chic, and is surprisingly super easy to crib! Step one: always start with an eye shadow primer, like Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance which helps shadows to stay perfectly uncreased and vibrant throughout the night. Next, take a shimmery neutral color—this blogger loves Smashbox’s Photo Op eye shadow trios in Screen Shot. Use the lightest color, Nectar, to highlight the brow bone. Then, take a medium brown shade, Cinnamon Toast, and sweep across the lid. Then, with a crease brush, apply the darker shade, Roast, in just the crease, going in a windshield wiper movement. Now, the fun part! Glitter makes everything better, so start with Too Faced’s Glamour dust in Nude Beam. It helps if you apply with a slightly damped brush or finger, and press the glitter into your eyelid. Follow with a tight line of black liquid liner, and extend it out a bit on the ends for a sexy cat eye. False lashes do your eyes big favors, so add a strip of falsies and get those eyes flashing!
Another uber chic holiday party look is the classic smoky eye. Always a favorite go to look, for holiday, you can always add a red lip to take your makeup from Woo to WOO HOO! To get the perfect holiday smoky eye, try mixing it up and do a berry and wine colored eye. Jane Iredale has a perfect eye shadow trip for a plum colored eye. Time to put your thinking caps on, ladies, because this blogger is going to teach you a new way to quickly apply eye shadow and get a great and easy smoky eye. Start with, of course, a lid primer. Jane Iredale makes a great yellow one to combat any darkness your eyes may be hiding. After applying the primer, take the lightest color and apply it in a stripe from the inner corner of your eye to about a third of the way over. Then, use the medium colored shadow and apply a second stripe next to in. Then, take the darkest color and apply a third stripe. Now, take a crease brush and blend them all together, going from the outside to the inside in the crease, and blending the lines between all three colors. Follow with a deep plum eye liner and either false lashes or your favorite black mascara.
