Country music may not suit everyone’s tastes, but it IS the most widely listened to music genre in America, right now. So what do those country folk do? They throw themselves a handful of music award shows to celebrate being country! At the most recent ones, the CMT Awards, fashion was out in full force, with hot and spicy looks to match. One thing’s for sure, those country kids clean up well! The fashion statement du jour was short, sparkly and metallic dresses, with a killer smoky eye to match. Most of the crooners wore their hair down and in loose, sexy waves to not make their looks too harsh. Read on to learn how to make yourself look a little more country-fabulous; maybe Taylor Swift will even write a song about you!
To steal the look of a country star, start with Smashbox’s Hydrating Photo Finish primer to give your skin a dose of moisture and smooth it out for your foundation. Next, apply Smashbox’s Studio Skin 15 hour wear foundation all over your face, blending around the jaw and hair lines. Use the lighter shimmer color to apply to the lid and corners of your eye lid, and on the brow bone, making sure to blend, blend, blend! Next, reach for the Limitless liner in Onyx and draw a line on the lash line, smudging up as you go. Then, line the inner rims of your eyes for a super smoldering look.
In the world of music awards, if you’re not wearing lashes, you forgot an integral part of your wardrobe. Snag a set of strip falsies, and wrap them around your pinky finger to get them shaped right. Then, using the end of a makeup brush, apply a line of glue right to the strip. Give it a few seconds to dry and get tacky, then , starting at the innermost part of your eye, apply the strip right at the lash line. Press it gently with the end of a makeup brush or tweezers to really set it in there. Apply one coat of black mascara to bottom and top lashes, and you’re ready to move on to the most important part of any country girl’s wardrobe: her hair!
When it comes to hair, bigger is better! For big voluminous hair, add a small puff of Rene Furterer Volumea mousse to your roots for serious volume that will last until the next day! Comb through a dime size of Alterna’s Kendi Oil for serious shine, (which also helps to protect from heat!) and blow dry in sections with a round brush, curling each piece under and blasting with the cool shot for 10 seconds. To get big, beautiful waves, wrap small sections around a 1 to 1 1/2 inch curling iron and hold for 30 seconds.
